The Namanolo Islamic Educational Trust (NIET), established in 1979 under the Pretoria North Muslim Educational Institute (PNMEI) in South Africa, is dedicated to spreading Islamic education and providing essential services to the Muslim communities in Malawi. The historical roots of Islam in Malawi date back to the Islamic Kilwa Empire, with Muslim traders and scholars bringing Islam from the Swahili coast of East Africa. This rich history laid the foundation for the strong Islamic presence in the country today.

Located in the Liwonde District, the Namanolo Islamic Centre (NIC) is the cornerstone of NIET's activities in Malawi. The centre includes a boarding facility, a library, an administration block, a kitchen with a dining hall, an ablution block, classrooms for Muʿallim training, a primary school, and junior and senior secondary schools. It serves around 80 learners with full boarding facilities, providing a range of educational programs including:
Taḥfīẓ al-Qur'ān: A Qur'an memorisation programme with 20 full-time learners. The centre has produced 53 Ḥuffāẓ (memorisers of the Qur'an) to date, including female graduates.
Mu’allim Training Programme: Started in 2000, this programme trains teachers to serve in village Makātib, currently enrolling about 48 learners across three levels.
Nursery and Primary Schools: Serving around 2,000 children, primarily Muslims.
Secondary Schools: Providing education to Muslim youth, enabling them to pursue higher education and professional careers.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Munawwara Islamic Institute has been providing Islamic education to 95 students. The institute has introduced two Ḥifẓ and five Mutawassiṭah classes, with seven dedicated teachers. Seven students have completed Ḥifẓ at the centre. The Mutawassiṭah class covers 10 subjects, including Qur'an, Ḥifẓ, Tajwīd, Adʿiyah, Ḥadīth, Tawḥīd, Sīrah, Fiqh, Qaṣaṣ, Naḥw, Ṣarf, and Arabic writing. The institute also provides secular education with primary and secondary school classes during the afternoons, covering eight subjects taught by eight dedicated teachers.

NIET extends its services beyond education to address various community needs:
Masājīd Construction and Renovation: Over 50 Masājīd constructed and renovated, complete with Imam quarters, ablution facilities, and women’s sections.
Wells and Boreholes: Over 600 wells and boreholes dug, providing clean drinking water to numerous villages.
Qurbānī and Șadaqah Projects: Administers Qurbānī projects and regular Șadaqah projects, distributing food, clothing and other essentials.
Sewing and Skills Training: Nine sewing centers operate under NIET, empowering women with skills to support their families.

Established in 2007, the Kaunde Hifz Centre focuses on Qur'an memorization and provides both Islamic and secular education. It currently houses 14 students and also hosts a sewing and skills training program for women from neighboring villages.

NIET Makātib: 99 Makātib with 182 Mu’allims, 4 supervisors, and 18,786 registered students, with an average daily attendance of 11,830.
Namanolo Centre: 50 boarding school students, 10 sewing class students, and 24 staff.
Munawwara Centre: 39 Ḥifẓ students, 56 Mu’allim class students, 10 sewing class students and 20 staff including teachers and support staff.
Kaunde Centre: 14 Ḥifẓ students and support staff.
